Antique William IV Circular Breakfast / Dining Table (1830–1837)

We are delighted to present a rare and genuine William IV circular breakfast/dining table, dating from 1830–1837, crafted in striking burr walnut.

This exceptional antique has been fully professionally restored and French polished by our expert team to ensure it is presented in showroom condition. The restoration work and French polishing alone are worth in excess of £1,000.

Craftsmanship & Design

This piece was crafted by some of the finest cabinet makers of the William IV era. Constructed from rare burr walnut, the most decorative and expensive cut of the tree, it is embellished with hand-cut inlaid marquetry, including elegant swags and ribbons that enhance the wood’s natural swirling grain.

Burr wood is prized for its complex, swirling figure — particularly when taken from the base of the tree or from rare growths where hundreds of tiny branches attempt to emerge. It is this natural rarity that makes burr walnut one of the most valuable and eye-catching materials in fine furniture.

French Polishing

We have applied a hand professional French polish, the world’s finest furniture finish:

Unique depth & lustre – delivering a luxurious gleam unmatched by lacquers
Durability – modern French polishes are resilient and heat resistant to a degree
Repairable & refreshable – unlike lacquer, French polish can be restored over time

We recommend French polishing particularly for tabletops, as it offers both aesthetic brilliance and long-term protection.

Finishing Options

In addition to French polishing, we also offer:

Modern Lacquer Finishes – Clear or Farrow & Ball colour options, applied with an AC two-pack lacquer system for maximum durability and protection.
Painted Finishes – Achieved only through professional lacquer application. We caution against simple paint-pot finishes, which lack durability and wear easily.
Avoid Oil Finishes – Oil provides insufficient protection and is prone to wear. Many of our clients approach us to restore oil-finished tables, which quickly show imperfections.

Delivery In England in Wales is around £100, Scotland is generally more depending on the destination. We can deliver our items all over the world too, it’s usually about £1000 internationally and to the US and Asia and about £500 to destinations in Europe.
