About Farrow & Ball Hague Blue

Hague Blue No. 30 is a deep, dark blue with green undertones, named after the richly coloured Dutch woodwork for which it became famous. Dramatic yet timeless, it adds depth and elegance, working as well on statement furniture as it does in architectural interiors.

On this dining set, Hague Blue provides a stylish, contemporary contrast to the natural French oak, enhancing both warmth and character.

The Dining Table

The rectangular-shaped solid oak table has been professionally hand French polished using only the finest modern table-top polishes. This highlights the oak’s natural grain and ensures a deep lustrous finish that is as durable as it is elegant.

The table comes with two concealed extension leaves, stored neatly under the main top. These can be pulled out to extend the table length significantly, offering flexibility for different occasions.

It sits on a very substantial solid oak base, with four turned pillar legs finished in Hague Blue for a bold and sophisticated look.

The set includes eight solid oak dining chairs, all finished to match the table in Farrow & Ball Hague Blue. These chairs are not only visually striking but also substantial, heavy, and comfortable.

Current Upholstery

The existing cream fabric is in very good condition overall. One chair shows minor marks, which could be cleaned. Reupholstery is not essential but can be arranged at additional cost should a new fabric or leather be preferred.

The Finish

At Elite, All bases and chairs are coated in AC two-pack lacquer, an environmentally safe, professional-grade finish that is far stronger than ordinary paint. This ensures the Hague Blue retains its flawless appearance for years, even under daily use.

The tabletop is finished with modern French polish, still regarded as the finest furniture finish in the world. Unlike simple oil finishes, French polish delivers:

  • A deep, lustrous shine
  • Long-lasting durability
  • Heat resistance
  • The ability to be refreshed or repaired over time

⚠️ Why not oil finishes?

Oil finishes are insufficient for table tops, offering little real protection. Over time, oil-finished surfaces quickly show imperfections. At Elite, we are often contacted to restore such items, which is why we insist on using French polish for superior beauty and performance.
