What is Burr Yew?
Burr Yew refers to the extraordinary swirling figure found within Yew wood, particularly around the base of the tree where it meets the roots. True burr occurs when a rare natural growth forms on the tree, producing hundreds of tiny branch formations that create intricate, cloud-like patterns when cut and polished.
The result is one of the most decorative and visually captivating timbers available in fine furniture making.
Each top is entirely unique — no two pieces of Burr Yew are ever the same.

We apply a professional, environmentally safe AC two-pack lacquer system — the strongest and most durable furniture finish available when professionally applied.
Unlike standard paint finishes, this method:
- Prevents flaking and premature wear
- Withstands heavy use
- Maintains colour depth
- Protects high-traffic areas such as chair frames and bases
If selecting a Farrow & Ball colour, this is the only method we recommend for durability and longevity.
